With the World’s Richest People, Manchin and Sinema Celebrated Their Obstruction.
All they care about is power.
A of late, Democratic lawmakers Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin have been relatively quiet, haven’t they? It makes sense. After all, the election is behind us, we’ve had a lame duck session of congress, and the seemingly constant drama with the Republican Party has allowed them to fly well under the radar. Other than Sinema’s announcement that she would be switching her party registration to independent and giving the organizers who got her elected yet another middle finger, these two have not made a whole lot of noise.
That is, until they went to the Davos World Economic Forum and sat among some of the richest people in the world.
Stephen Neakum with The Hill writes:
“…Sinema was touting the duo’s accomplishments as a moderating force in the Senate — which included blocking changes to the filibuster — when Manchin chimed in.
“We still don’t agree on getting rid of the filibuster,” Manchin said before they turned to each other and high-fived.
The lawmakers’ intransigence on the filibuster effectively blocked key Democratic legislative priorities, such as voting rights reforms and codifying abortion rights, over the past two years…
