Why is Joe Manchin Threatening to Sue the Biden Administration?
Of course, it has to do with electric vehicles.
Ah, Senator Joe Manchin.
He just makes it so easy to loathe him, doesn’t he? Other than perhaps Kyrsten Sinema, I’m not sure there’s a Democratic lawmaker more disingenuous, smug, condescending, and spiteful than the West Virginia lawmaker, and that’s saying a lot. He has made it abundantly clear that he enjoys being the foil, and using his power to provide an excuse as to why Democrats can’t get anything done. He’s essentially made himself the de facto President, and I suppose it should come as no surprise that he’s decided to threaten to sue the Biden administration. Why?
Over electric vehicles of course.
Rachel Frazin with The Hill writes:
“Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) issued a warning to the Biden administration this week, threatening a lawsuit if an anticipated guidance from the Treasury Department seeks to circumvent restrictions that he added to a law on electric vehicle tax credits.
Manchin told reporters this week that if the guidance, expected Friday, “goes off the rails” or otherwise goes around what he intended, “I’ll do whatever I can and that means going to court.”
