Why is Gavin Newsom Debating Ron DeSantis?
Breaking down what this means.
Ron DeSantis’ campaign might be dead, but the presidential ambitions still remain alive. Why wouldn’t they be? DeSantis is just one of those people who we know has probably been plotting and preparing for this moment since he was a freshman in college and likely even in his high school years, bound and determined to get himself into the oval office. While Donald Trump might be primed to once again represent the Republican Party in the 2024 general election, DeSantis is going to make sure we all remember he’s still here. Of course, he’ll help do so by debating none other than California governor Gavin Newsom.
Kim Bellware with The Washington Post writes:
“According to Newsom’s letter, he (Newsom) proposed a 90-minute debate moderated by Hannity and focused on “the impact of representation at the state level.” The Fox News-hosted event will have no live audience and will air live on Nov. 8 or 10 in a battleground state, either Georgia, Nevada or North Carolina.
The two governors have been locked in an escalating feud for the past year, taking shots at each other on topics such as immigration, abortion, gun rights and education, each portraying the policies and conditions in the other’s state as an indictment on their respective parties’ politics…”
