Why Are They Turning the Alleged United Healthcare CEO’s Killer into a Spectacle?
It’s having the opposite desired effect.
If you follow the news at all, you know that United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered in the streets of New York City as he was walking to a hotel for a conference with investors. The man accused of assassinating him is Luigi Mangione, and it shouold come as no surprise that his face has been all over social media since his picture was first released to the public. But, and maybe it’s just me noticing this, it feels as though it’s not just social media running away with it. The police have turned him into a sheer spectacle. I’m sure everyone has seen the images by now, with Mangione being paraded along the street surrounded by police in his orange jumpsuit.
They’re turning him into a spectacle.
It’s not on accident, either. There is a calculated attempt to try and turn him into some sort of example, and it’s almost amusing to me how it’s having the exact opposite effect. They’re trying to scare people, and it’s not working.
They’re turning Mangione into a martyr.
