What This Last Debate Meant For Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.
Is this the last chance they have to make an impact?
Once again, the Republican candidates held a debate without Donald Trump. It took place with five of them in the city of Miami and of course, Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley took center stage. But as you listen to them speak, it’s impossible not to think of the ramifications. For both of them, it could very well be the most important debate of their political career.
How many more chances are DeSantis and Haley going to have to make up any ground in campaign?
If we’re being honest, this feels like their last chance. If they come out of this debate with no changes in the polling in their favor, it’s difficult to come to a conclusion other than their fates are sealed for this election. There will not be enough time or opportunities for them to move positively in the polls if they can’t capitalize off of this debate, and you can bet they know it.
Donald Trump, of course, knows it as well.
Why else was he smugly holding a rally at the same time of the debate, not far away?
Like it or not, Trump sitting out of these debates sends a powerful message to the base, and perhaps it’s not the one we would necessarily like for them to receive…
