What the Departure of Mitch McConnell Means For the Republican Party.
It truly is the end of an era. What’s next?
I know on the face of it, it’s not surprising in the slightest that Mitch McConnell has finally decided that his political career is coming to a close and he will not be seeking reelection next year. But at the same time, it’s hard to believe that in such a short amount of time, Washington D.C. will be without the man who’s career over the past forty years and shaped what our political landscape looks like today. It’s the end of an era, that will undeniably leave a massive void.
So, what’s next?
What does this mean for the Republican Party?
If we’re being honest, it is simply the end of the process that has started in 2015 when Donald Trump rode down that escalator in Trump tower. As much as where we are now is a culmination of things that have happened over the course of decades, that was the moment where all of it started coming to the forefront. It was the moment where the Republican Party and obviously the nation overall was going to have to figure out what it really is and where it stands.
Was the Republian Party with Mitch McConnell and the establishment, or would Donald Trump eventually take total control.
