What Are Democrats Going to Do About Texas’ Abortion Ban?

Probably not much of anything, and here’s why.

Following the recent legislation that not only effectively serves as a ban on abortion in the state of Texas, but rewards citizen vigilantes with $10,000 for successfully suing an abortion provider or anyone who helps a woman get an abortion as well, there have certainly been a lot of conversations regarding what the Democratic party can or will do in response. The Justice Department under the leadership of Joe Biden has decided to sue the state of Texas, which is a worthwhile step regardless of its ultimate success. But what, exactly, is Congress going to do? What is the Democratic party, with their majority in the House, the Senate, and control of the White House to boot, going to do to ensure that the reproductive rights of women are protected? They could codify Roe vs. Wade into law, but will they?

My guess is no, absolutely not. Why? Because it’s a whole lot easier to just run on the issue instead.

Given their track record, it wouldn’t exactly be surprising would it?

The thing is, I think Democrats do care about this. I think it does bother them that the reproductive rights of women are being stripped away. It just doesn’t bother them enough to take action. But, does anything though? When…
