We’re Letting Covid Ruin Future Generations.
We really need to talk about how covid is affecting young people in the United States.
God I can’t believe it has been going on three years since we first began hearing whispers of Covid in the news. It’s one of those pivotal times in life isn’t it? People in America remember where they were when JFK was assassinated. They remember where they were when 9/11 happened. Me? I remember when it hit me that Covid was probably going to change not just the country, but the world for the foreseeable future. As silly as it sounds, it was when the remainder of the NBA season got cancelled.
To be sure, there were countless alarm bells raised that stood out before then. I remember seeing stories and images coming out of Wuhan, China on social media with Twitter users posting captions like “yeah, we all better get ready because this isn’t going to be good”. I remember how unsettling it was when one of the first Doctors in China to raise the alarm bells about the serious nature of the virus passed away. But when that NBA season got cancelled, that was the first moment of acceptance, and unsettling reality for me after a period of denial that it wasn’t really going to be that bad.
Well, two and a half years later, here we are with a virus that we allowed to succeed in…
