We Don’t Owe the Democratic Party Anything.

If they want our votes, they better earn it.

It’s been a little over two weeks since the Supreme Court decision to overturn the Roe vs. Wade decision was handed down, throwing reproductive rights out the window in roughly half the country. It happened under the watch of the Democratic Party, that had the past two years to codify abortion rights into law and had known it was coming, like the rest of us, for six weeks before it happened.

When asked by CNN’s Dana Bash what Democrats were going to do in response, Vice President Kamala Harris looked at her and asked: “do what now?”

“Do what now?”

A nice, not so subtle reminder that while the GOP and the powerful within the evangelical community have been planning for this moment for fifty years, it doesn’t even look as though Democrats had a meeting about how to respond to the rights to our privacy and bodily autonomy being taken from us.

Unfortunately, Harris’ responses haven’t gotten much better.

In another interview with CBS, she was clearly, explicitly asked if she believed Democrats had failed on the issue to not codify Roe vs. Wade into law when they’ve had the chance.

Her response?
