Wait…Are Democrats Going to Prevent a Contested Convention?

Is this what it’s come to in order to make sure Joe Biden doesn’t get challenged?

As if the aftermath of the recent presidential debate couldn’t get any more interesting, somehow there are still more layers being added to the story.

Apparently, moves that the Democratic Party is expected to make could ensure a contested convention does not happen.

Mario Parker and Gregory Korte with Bloomberg write:

“The Democratic National Committee is considering formally nominating Joe Biden as early as mid-July to ensure that the president is on November ballots, while helping to stamp out intra-party chatter of replacing him after last week’s poor debate performance.

A potential date for Biden’s nomination is July 21, when the Democratic convention’s credentials committee meets virtually, according to people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity. Democrats had already planned to nominate Biden, 81, before their August convention in order to ensure he appears on the ballot in Ohio…”
