Wait, a GOP Senate Candidate is Questioning Evolution?
For the right wing, science is always inconvenient.
At this point, the GOP and their astutely dubbed “war on science” has almost become a cliche. With each passing election cycle it becomes more and more apparent that reality is oftentimes an inconvenience for a political party that has decided it is just more interested in parroting a narrative rather than changing course. For decades we have watched them continue to manufacture doubt, denying climate change so that the fossil fuel industry that contributes heavily to their campaigns can continue to pillage and destroy our planet.
Well, the “war on science” is — predictably — stretching even further, with GOP Senatorial candidates now casting doubt on evolution.
Amanda Terkel with HuffPost writes:
“Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker cast doubt on the theory of evolution in recent remarks, saying the fact that apes and humans coexist disproves accepted science.
“At one time, science said man came from apes, did it not? … If that is true, why are there still apes? Think about it,” Herschel said in an appearance at Sugar Hill Church in Georgia on Sunday…”
