I like countless other people who scroll through social media and/or watch the news, am still trying to come to terms with yet another slaughter of innocents that took place over the weekend in the city of Rafah when the state of Israel bombed a tent encampment of displaced Palestinians. The image of a father holding up the beheaded body of his child with the flames and chaos surrounding him is forever etched in my mind, and the blood on the hands of the the United States that continues to enable this just gets worse.

Noura Erakat on Twitter shared an image of testimony from a mother who experienced the carnage in Rafah, which said:

“I left my children playing in the tent. I hugged them as it felt like the last hug. I left to cook them something to eat. I. came back panicking as I heard the airstrikes. I found my six children that couldn’t fit in the tent. They burnt and became ash. I carried the six in my arm as if it were a handful of sand. I continued hugging and kissing…
