Trump Has Decided to Share His Own Thoughts On the Civil War.
His speech in Iowa was bizarre.
For whatever reason, the Civil War has certainly been a topic of discussion for the Republican Party as of late. Nikki Haley’s decision to leave slavery out of her answer as to why the Civil War was fought sparked widespread, justified pushback. It came up once again at the CNN Town Hall between Ron DeSantis and Haley, and now Trump has decided to share his thoughts as well.
It went about how you would expect.

“Former President Donald Trump on Saturday suggested the Civil War could have been avoided through “negotiation,” arguing that the fight to end slavery in the US was ultimately unnecessary and that Abraham Lincoln should have done more to avoid bloodshed.
“So many mistakes were made. See, there was something I think could have been negotiated, to be honest with you,” Trump said at a campaign event in Newton, Iowa. “I think you could have negotiated that. All the people died. So many people died.”
