To the Boomers Furious About Student Loan Forgiveness.

I genuinely need to know what your problem is.

Ah, boomers.

Many of them are a little bit angry these days, aren’t they?

After President Biden’s announcement that his Department of Education would be forgiving $10k in federal student loans for borrowers earning less than $125k a year, to say there was a wide array of reaction would be an understatement to say the least. Some on the left have argued that while they’re happy this will be a huge help to a lot of people, the issue of student debt is so significant that this policy essentially acknowledges the problem without really doing anything to fix it.

And then on the other end, unsurprisingly, there are the boomers.

Of course I’ll add that caveat that this is not addressed to all boomers. Some are certainly happy that their grandchildren and children will get even a little bit of relief from that burden of predatory loans, and can instead perhaps use that money they’ll be saving to add to a down payment on a home, starting a family, getting that new car they need, or putting it towards a vacation they’ve always wanted to take.

But as we all know or have likely seen firsthand at this point, there’s a significant chunk of people among the boomer…
