The Trump Administration’s Tariffs Start Today.
I can’t believe it hasn’t even been two weeks and the chaos is already in full swing.
The chaos has certainly begun.
Reports have stated that beginning today, the tariffs that Donald Trump has had planned since before his election will be taking effect. Less than two weeks in, and the American people are already about to feel the economic cost of electing this man to his second term.
Kevin Liptak and David Goldman with CNN write:
“…New research from the Peterson Institute for International Economics suggests Trump’s aggressive tariff campaign will force American consumers to pay more for practically everything — from foreign-made sneakers and toys to food.
Trump’s proposed tariffs could add $272 billion a year to tax burdens, according to Karl Schamotta, chief market strategist at Corpay Cross-Border Solutions. The Peterson Institute has estimated Trump’s proposed tariffs would cost the typical US household over $2,600 a year.
…Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, last week told CNBC that if tariffs cause a little inflation but address a national security issue, then people should “get over it.”
“Get over it.”
That man, Jamie Dimon, has more money than you or I could possibly imagine. More money than he or his family could spend on multiple lifetimes. Let’s not forget his name in association with the housing market crash in 2008, either.
That man is a leech.
An evil, soulless, human being incapable of caring about anything beyond his own immeasurable wealth. Maybe that’s why he has the audacity to tell the American people-already struggling to get by-to just “get over it” when simply the cost of existing is going to go up by thousands of dollars a year.
There is so much I would like to say.
So much that would get me in trouble.
It’s difficult to even find the words to say. Maybe it’s just because now is one of those moments where it’s truly sinking in for me. It’s truly sinking in that the aftermath of this administration will probably affect the rest of my life.
This is a full, unapologetic oligarchy now.
It’s a hostile takeover with no regard for the American people. Donald Trump’s base, whether they will ever come to admit it or not, were nothing but mere pawns. Useful idiots. They’ll watch as they struggle to afford the most basic of necessities and the administration they put into place will simply give them the middle finger and laugh as they do so.
I’m just sad…
I feel as powerless as I am angry. But things are moving quickly. It’s almost like an attempt to shock the American people and get things done before they catch on and react. These days I’m not sure that will work, but once again, they know how to operate with the smartest tactics possible.
That’s why we’re here.
