The Supreme Court Decided Trump Will Be On the Colorado Ballot.
There was never a doubt in my mind.
It’s official.
As many of us probably assumed would be the case, the Supreme Court ultimately determined, despite the efforts of the state of Colorado, that former President Donald Trump would in fact remain on the ballot for the upcoming election.
The New York Times reports:
“The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that states may not bar former President Donald J. Trump from running for another term, rejecting a challenge from Colorado to his eligibility that threatened to upend the presidential race by taking him off ballots around the nation.
Though the justices provided different reasons, the decision’s bottom line was unanimous. All the opinions focused on legal issues, and none took a position on whether Mr. Trump had engaged in insurrection, as Colorado courts had found…”
I mean, we all saw this coming right?
Obviously, it’s worth noting that three of the justices making this critical decision were picked by Donald Trump and his administration. It’s hard not to evaluate this situation from the perspective of Donald Trump and his camp, and not think that this is exactly what he put them there to do.
