The Right Wing’s Latest Target? Eighteen Year Old Olympian Eileen Gu.
She made history, and they can’t stand it.
For anyone who watches the Olympics, there’s no denying that Beijing 2022 was pretty dark in a number of ways. Whether it be the mostly empty stands and ominous glimpses of the staff in full PPE, or the aftermath of fifteen year old figure staker Kamila Valieva’s free skate that was probably one of the most devastating, difficult to watch things I have ever seen in athletics, these Olympic games have been a whirlwind.
Of course, there were bright spots, and for many — including myself — perhaps one of the best parts of the 2022 Olympics was eighteen year old freestyle skier Eileen Gu.
And the right — even some so called “liberals” — absolutely despise her for it.
Considering she is a San Francisco native, it really shouldn’t surprise any of us that there are many conservatives who deeply resent the fact that Eileen chose to represent her mother’s home nation of China at these winter games.
