The Real Reason Biden Opposes Medicare for All.
Why the former Vice President is against a single payer system.
It’s no secret that former Vice President and current candidate for the Democratic Presidential nomination Joe Biden has been pushing back on certain leftist ideals, Medicare for All being among them. While many of our potential nominees have been running to the left during the primary when it comes to this particular issue, Biden has taken the opposite approach. In spite of thr fact that Barack Obama himself has said Medicare for All is a good idea, he even released a campaign ad via Twitter against the proposal for single payer, and touted his ties to Obama to push for an “expansion” of Obamacare instead.
In his Twitter ad, Joe Biden says:
“…I believe we have to protect and build on Obamacare. That’s why I proposed adding a public option to Obamacare as the best way to lower costs and cover everyone. I understand the appeal of Medicare for All — but folks supporting it should be clear — that it means getting rid of Obamacare. And I’m not for that. I was very proud the day I stood there with Barack Obama, and he signed that legislation. Never before had anyone ever been able to do that in the White House. 20 Million Americans gained coverage. Over 100 million with pre-existing conditions finally got protection, and most importantly peace of mind. You know, I know how hard it is to get that passed. I watched it. Starting over makes no sense to me at all. I knew Republicans would do everything in their power to repeal Obamacare. They still are. But I’m surprised so many Democrats are running on getting rid of it. The Affordable Care Act was a historic achievement for President Obama, and if I’m elected President I’m going to do everything in my power to protect it and build on it.”
Because the biggest proponent of Medicare for All himself, Bernie Sanders, has taken it upon himself as of late to address the outright lies thrown at his proposed legislation by Joe Biden and others, I’ll instead address why Joe Biden has decided to put himself so firmly against universal healthcare.
Perhaps when asking why Joe Biden is against it, we should first ask ourselves who he is surrounding himself with. Who are the people telling him exactly what to…
