The Ohio Senate Candidate Trump Endorsed Once Called Him “America’s Hitler”.
J.D. Vance made it clear how he really feels about the former President.

At this point, discussions of the lengths Republicans are willing to go in order to attain power or remain relevant have been going on for so long it’s almost a cliche. And yet, leave it to craven members of the GOP to continue to up the ante and somehow still be able to surprise us. Just recently, screenshots of messages sent by Ohio Senate Candidate J.D. Vance garnered a lot of attention.
In an image tweeted out by Josh McLaurin, Vance wrote:
“But I’m not surprised by Trump’s rise, and I think the entire Party has only itself to blame. We are, whether we like it or not, the party of lower-income, lower-education white people, and I have been saying for a long time that we need to offer these people SOMETHING (and hell, maybe even expand our appeal to working class Black people in the process) or a demagogue would. Trump is the fruit of the party’s collective neglect. I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful), or that he’s America’s Hitler. How’s that for discouraging?”
There is so much to unpack in that single message that it’s difficult to even know where to begin, but it’s always a little fascinating to learn how GOP figures like Vance really feel underneath all the rhetoric.
Granted it was a message sent in 2016, which makes Vance’s stance now even more ridiculously disingenuous. Incredible, isn’t it, how someone can go from fearing that Trump is going to be America’s Hitler, to making a name for himself among Ohio’s GOP Senate Candidates as the one most willing to lick Trump’s boots. He wouldn’t have gotten the endorsement otherwise, and we all know it.
