The GOP’s Trying to Take Student Loan Debt Cancellation to Court.

Sometimes I think they’re asking for the guillotines.

With the cancellation of even just what amounts to a minuscule sum of student loan debt for Americans making less than $125k a year, it’s become clear in the weeks since Biden announced the plan that there was a bit of an unintended consequence.

I don’t think even Biden and those in his circles expected the right wing to melt down in the extent that they are. Whether it be Senator Ted Cruz bemoaning the “slacker baristas” or Representative Lauren Boebert whining about people with, in her words, “lesbian dance theory” degrees, the right wing has made it clear that they utterly despise the American people without even bothering to hide it at all.

Well, reporting indicates they’re now taking it beyond the rhetoric, and are planning to use the courts to prevent Biden from cancelling student loan debt.

Tony Romm, Jeff Stein, and Danielle Douglas-Gabrielle with The Washington Post write:

“Republican state attorneys general and other leading conservatives are exploring a slew of potential lawsuits targeting President Biden’s plan to cancel some student debt — challenges that could limit or invalidate the policy before it takes full effect.
