The GOP’s Plans for the Education Department? Eliminate it Entirely.
Representative Matt Gaetz made that perfectly clear.
Given the talking points coming from the GOP as of late, for anyone paying attention it’s been perfectly clear that they’ve got a problem with the education department. In fact, it’s been fairly obvious that the targeting of teachers and LGBTQ students has been a convenient tool for the right wing to get the American people to turn against educators and public education. Of course, we can count on at least some of them to admit the quiet parts out loud, Matt Gaetz being among them.

“Representative Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican, said Sunday that he believes the U.S. Department of Education should be eliminated.
His comments came in a tweet after he responded to a post from Representative Mark Green, a Tennessee Republican, who is touting a GOP “Parents Bill of Rights” proposal.
Green’s tweet said: “Our Parents’ Bill of Rights is going to ensure that parents know exactly what their children are being taught in the classroom and have a say in their education. #CommitmentToAmerica.”
