The GOP Civil War Has Started. Is America Great Again, Yet?

There’s been a lot of talk about a GOP civil war, hasn’t there? It’s been talked about since Donald Trump delivered his opening campaign speech, after riding down the escalator in Trump Tower what feels like an eternity ago. We’ve seen little hints of it here and there. A few irrelevant Republican lawmakers speaking out, a finger wagging from right wing media pundits on occasion as well.

But now, the part of me that can’t help loving the drama of electoral politics can’t help taking notice that right now, it seems like tensions are really heating up between the two factions of the GOP.

Let’s start with Mitch McConnell finally growing a spine, shall we? If you can even call it that.

Julia Shapero with The Hill writes:

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said former President Trump’s political power is “diminished” following his endorsed candidates’ lackluster performance in the midterm elections and vowed to find “quality” candidates for Senate races in 2024.

“Here’s what I think has changed: I think the former president’s political clout has diminished,” McConnell said in an interview with NBC News released on Friday…
