The FDA is May Limit Access to the COVID Vaccine Shots.
The consequences for this could be significant.
The Covid 19 pandemic was one of the most defining periods in my life, and really of this era. I work in a nursing home and saw and experienced things I will never forget. Putting on gloves and gowns to hold the hand of an actively dying man as his family stands outside his window in the cold January air crying will stay with you. An elderly man who came in every single day to feed his wife with dementia not getting to say goodbye because his kids were understandably concerned he will get it, too will stay with you.
At work and honestly just in general, there’s such a deep divide between the before and after. It’s engrained into so much of how we talk about things. There was the before Covid, and the after. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I have seen firsthand what that virus will do to people, but I still care deeply about the vaccine and have seen the impact it can have.
After nearly a year of doing everything we could to keep our residents safe and protected we lost 20 people in our first outbreak. We’ve had multiple outbreaks since the vaccine was administered, and only two or three people have died.
It works.
