The Democrats’ Latest Go-To Foil? The Senate Parliamentarian.
Rest assured they always manage to find an excuse.
If you follow politics regularly, you probably know that lawmakers are gearing up to vote on some particularly important pieces of legislation in the coming days, namely the infrastructure bill and the budget reconciliation bill accompanying it. Naturally, they are working out the finer details of the bills, and the American people should hopefully know the specifics in regards to their contents soon enough. That said, on social media I happened to stumble across a tweet from Senator Dick Durbin that gave away a snippet of what was not going to be in the legislation.
Durbin’s tweet said:
“I am deeply disappointed in the Parliamentarian’s decision tonight, but the fight for immigration reform will continue. Senate Democrats have prepared an alternative proposal for the Parliamentarian’s consideration in the coming days.”
A subsequent tweet from another account said:
“The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled, very likely shut door on a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers & others in reconciliation…”
