So, Why is Pete Buttigieg Our Secretary of Tranportation?

He has no business being in that position.

Ah, Pete Buttigieg.

Let’s talk a little bit about how his tenure as Secretary of Transportation is going, shall we? Suffice it to say, he has left a lot to be desired. There have been a number of instances that have taken place since he took the position that have left me and I’m sure many others wondering what he’s even doing in that spot, whether it be the Southwest Airlines debacle or, more recently, the derailment of a highly flammable train carrying toxic, dangerous chemicals.

Issues, of course, that Buttigieg seems to have no interest in dealing with.

Regarding the Southwest Airlines incident, Karl Evers-Hillstrom with The Hill writes:

“Lawmakers on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee called out Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg during a Thursday hearing on the Southwest Airlines meltdown…

…Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), the committee’s chairwoman, said that the Department of Transportation isn’t doing enough to crack down on poor airline service. Cantwell’s office clarified that she was referring to the need to empower the DOT’s consumer protection office with “more resources and manpower.”
