So…Governor Ron DeSantis Might be the Pick For Defense Secretary.

Let’s talk about Trump potentially replacing his current nominee with the Florida governor.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised.

As the status of his nomination of Hegseth for the position remains in jeopardy, President-elect Trump has apparently been considering others to take his place. None other than Florida governor Ron DeSantis is apparently under consideration to be the new nominee for Secretary of Defense.

Matt Dixon, Courtney Kube and Rebecca Shabad with NBC News write:

“President-elect Donald Trump is considering replacing embattled defense secretary choice Pete Hegseth with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, according to two sources familiar with the decision-making.

DeSantis is “very much in contention,” one source said.

Another told NBC News that Trump and DeSantis directly spoke about the issue.

“Trump talked to the governor and wants him to do it,” a source familiar with the conversation told NBC News on Tuesday night…”
