West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has made it clear how he was going to approach Biden’s tenure as President long before Biden was even officially elected. The coal baron turned lawmaker has loved being the scapegoat. The boogyman. The one the rest of his conservative colleagues could point to as the convenient excuse when popular legislation was blocked, and tell their base there was nothing they could of because of him. If nothing else he’s enjoyed the relevance, and being able to give his middle to a base on the left that has come to despise him and everything he represents.

But of course, even with his decision to not seek reelection in the Senate, Manchin’s made it clear he’s not done. In fact, he’s considering leaving the Democratic Party.

Tia Shepherd with The Hill writes:

“…During an interview on CNN, anchor Kaitlan Collins pressed the West Virginia senator on whether he was thinking about leaving the party after expressing disdain for what he called the “business of politics.”…

…When first asked if was going to leave the Democratic party, Manchin stressed that he has always been an “independent” thinker and voter over the course of an almost 40-year political career.
