Sen. Joe Manchin Had Some Telling Thoughts About College Athletes.
The West Virginia Senator doesn’t like them making money.
Everyone needs an escape, right?
The world is oftentimes chaos, and right now in Israel and Palestine in particular, there is so much destruction and utter devastation taking place it’s almost impossible to know where to begin and be able to comprehend it all. Last night a video circulating on Twitter of a visibly and understandably traumatized young Palestinian boy, who had just witnessed a bombing and rescued his injured little nephew just about broke me. I cannot even begin to imagine what he has been through, and it’s impossible not to watch all of this unfold without feeling a little bit helpless.
While I absolutely will not turn a blind eye to any of it, the fact is the human brain is wired to seek escape. As much as I care about politics, football has evolved into my escape of choice. I love my Buffalo Bills, and I’ve come to really appreciate just how much these players put themselves through and just how smart you have to be to play this sport at a high level.
As for college athletics though, NIL deals have taken that rhealm by storm. Whether it be Angel Reese or Livy Dunne with LSU or Caleb Williams at USC, these athletes are making incredible amounts…
