Ron DeSantis Has Officially Signed Florida’s 6-Week Abortion Ban.
Florida’s the latest case study on fascism’s rise in the United States.
It’s been admittedly sort of funny to see Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ attempt to weasel his way into the 2024 GOP primary. It’s painfully obvious that he wants to run, and all things considered you would think he might have put in a little bit more of an effort in preparing to campaign against Donald Trump, whose viewed him as his top rival arguably since he was preparing to leave office. He finds himself in a situation where he’s forced to reckon with the fact that if he doesn’t run now, he might miss his moment but if he does, he’s going to have to run against the man who is not only the most popular man in the party and won’t tolerate dissent, but also made his career.
Given the far-from-optimal political situation he now finds himself in at the national level, we probably shouldn’t forget what this man has done in the state of Florida, and what he continues to do.
Like, for instance, signing a six week abortion ban.
