The app is now banned in the U.S. Will Donald Trump bring it back?
Well, here we are.
TikTok is officially banned in the United States, at least for now. The fate of the app rests in the hands of President-Elect Donald Trump who, after being one of the most vocal proponents of banning the app in recent years, has vowed he will attempt to bring it back. Time will tell, but needless to say there’s no reason to believe Trump is actually serious.
While I was never nearly as invested in this app as many others were, it’s beginning to sink in just how significant this is.
This wasn’t just an app where people could post goofy videos and start dance trends. It was a source of income for a LOT of people who now are left to figure out what’s next. For many, they found a sense of community and common ground there more than on any other social media app. It was also a place people could document and report the trials and successes of their communities, and they could learn and grow along the way. TikTok was an outlet for people, a place for them to express themselves and display their talents whether that be cooking, painting, interior decorating, dancing, or singing while they made iced coffee in the morning. I get why people are so upset, because no other app has done this…
