Rep. Adam Kinzinger Had an Interesting Message for MAGA.
“You’re being abused.”
--
I almost hate to admit it when a GOP lawmaker has a compelling message.
I hate it even more when the point they’re making might be a valid one.
You can probably understand why I find it particularly difficult right now, given everything that’s going on. After all, there is systematic warfare being waged against the right to choose, with right wing lawmakers in roughly half the country succeeding in declaring a uterus the property of the state. So please, bare with me as I struggle to find myself admitting that a Republican lawmaker might be making a solid point to the MAGA base.
Especially when it comes to criticism of Donald Trump.
Yesterday, I stumbled across a tweet from none other than Illinois Representative Adam Kinzinger, one of two Republican lawmakers on the January 6th committee. It was a quote from a recent television interview and the link to the article that quoted it, where he said:
“They know the election wasn’t stolen, but they’re going to send out fundraising requests, they’re going to take your money from you, and they’re going to use you to stay in power. You’re being abused.”
Damn, it really is frustrating when a Republican is an effective communicator, isn’t it?
Considering I write about politics for a living on a near daily basis, it should go without saying that I’ve watched every minute of the January 6th committee hearings. From the very beginning, admittedly one of my main takeaways was how they were so much more compelling than I thought they would be.
Honestly, that’s how you can tell Republicans were involved, isn’t it?
As much as I hate to admit it and as much as I might vehemently disagree with, dislike, and despise his politics, Adam Kinzinger is one of if not the most effective communicator on the committee, and the message he relayed in his tweet was a reminder of that fact.
“They’re going to take your money from you, and they’re going to use you to stay in power…”
