Rashida Tlaib Confronted Biden About Palestine. Good.
After watching the continued devastation unfold in Palestine and the Gaza strip specifically as Israel levels buildings, kills dozens of children, and destroys families, I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling not only despair, but helplessness too. Of course, the U.S. response to the recent escalations in conflict between Israel and Palestine as a result of Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s actions has only intensified those feelings as well, knowing our tax dollars are funding this disproportionate fight that innocent Palestinians have suffered under. Reports indicate Tlaib urged the President to do more to protect Palestinian lives and human rights, and that his administration’s actions were enabling a government committing war crimes against them.
Frankly, this is the proudest I have been of a Democratic lawmaker in quite some time. It cannot be understated how important it is to have a woman of Palestinian descent in a position of power here in the United States, speaking on behalf of her people, her family, and their freedom. Considering the role that the U.S. plays in funding this destruction of Gaza and so much loss of…
