President Elect Donald Trump Wants to Eliminate the Department of Education.
Lets talk about what that would actually mean.
A week removed from the 2024 election, I still find myself wondering if it’s ever actually going to sink in.
Right now, it doesn’t feel like it.
It doesn’t feel as though it’s ever going to truly hit me that Donald Trump will be returning to the White House in just a couple of short months. But, we’re seeing those headlines consistently, aren’t we? We’re seeing that breaking news that feels like a punch in the stomach, reminding us of just how much work lies ahead.
Today, it was the headlines that Trump hopes to close the Department of Education that did it for me.

“President-elect Donald Trump has promised sweeping changes to federal agencies, but there’s one he wants to do away with altogether: the Department of Education.
Closing the department — an off-and-on Republican goal since it was created in 1979 — would require congressional approval, and it’s unlikely Trump would have sufficient support. But Trump has made this promise often, and many Republicans are with him, arguing that the department is unnecessary…
