Once Again, M&M’s Are the Subject of Conservative Outrage.

It’s just pathetic.

It truly never ends, does it?

Once again, M&M’s find themselves the subject of more conservative anger, and — once again — none other than FOX News host Tucker Carlson is leading the outrage.

Marisa Dellatto with Forbes writes:

“Earlier this month M&M’s launched limited edition packaging which had the words “Supporting Women” on them and featured the brand’s three female spokescandies: Brown, Green and newly introduced Purple.

…Fox News personality Carlson dedicated a segment to the candies, saying “the woke M&M’s are back,” the green M&M “is now a lesbian maybe” and “there is also a plus-sized, obese purple M&M.”

Conservative personality Nick Adams tweeted “every American with half a brain should be outraged by M&M’s going woke,” as “manhood is under attack like no other time in world history.”

In a Monday announcement, M&M’s said it “didn’t expect” for the changes it had made to its spokescandies to “break the internet,” and noted “even a candy’s shoes can be polarizing,” which is the last thing the brand wanted, “since we’re all about bringing people together.”…”

It genuinely doesn’t get any more pathetic than that, does it?

For the right wing, anger and victimhood are simply pieces of their identity. It is the prime motivating factor, and they’ll search for anything that allows them to tap into it. Including, apparently, a candy brand that was going to donate some of the money from these specific packages to women’s charities.

People can’t afford rent. They can’t afford healthcare. At this very moment, there are people trying to figure out how to pay for a lifesaving medication for their child, or put food on the table for that child. There are people not making enough money to afford a part for the car they need in order to get to the job that doesn’t even pay them enough to sustain their ability to get there.

I feel like a broken record, but stories like these always make it worth pointing out: the right wing has nothing to offer other than distractions. That’s it. At this point, it almost feels like Tucker Carlson isn’t just mocking the genuine frustration and pain people are experiencing in this brutal country, but he’s seeing just how far he can push the narrative. He thoroughly enjoys it, and it only becomes more and more prevalent the more stories he attempts to come up with.

No one cares about “woke” candy, but it’s the root of the narrative that will continue to be the problem, isn’t it? So long as they have distractions to turn to, they’ll continue to take away from solving the problems we’re actually dealing with.

If you would like to donate and support my writing, it is so appreciated and you can do so through my ko-fi account. I’m saving for nursing school, so it means more than you know!
