In 2015, Bernie Sanders started a movement that managed to breathe life into a disenfranchised, cynical younger generation that had all but given up on politics. Above all, what made his run for President so special was the fact that it inspired others to run for office as well, and other leaders emerged within the movement to remind us that it does not end with Bernie or one election. Among the most powerful and prevalent of these leaders is none other than former Ohio State Senator and national campaign co-chair for Bernie Sanders, Nina Turner.

As those of us who follow politics already know, after Nina announced her own run for higher office in a fight for Marcia Fudge’s vacant primary seat, the Democratic establishment moved mountains to stop her. It’s not a stretch by any means to suggest that they put more effort into stopping her than into the GOP. In fact, Shontel Brown who quickly emerged as her top primary rival was taking money from Donald Trump’s donors, and millions of dollars were funneled into the effort to stop her.

Well, Nina has decided to remind us once again of what sets her apart from the rest, and has officially decided to run again for Congress to represent Ohio’s 11th district.
