Nikki Haley Thinks 65 is Too Young to Retire.
So how long do they want you working?
Ah, Nikki Haley.
The epitome of a politician who has absolutely missed her moment. She did nothing whatsoever to set herself apart from other candidates on the stage during the first GOP debate, and I don’t expect that to change any time soon. But, in typical Republican fashion, she’s back to resorting to floating deeply unpopular policy proposals. This time, she’s concerned bout the retirement age being too low.
Hadriana Lowenkron, Annmarie Hordern, and Joe Mathieu with Bloomberg write:
“Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley backed an increase in the retirement age that would be tied to life expectancy as a way to counter rising US government debt, a day after her standout performance in the first GOP debate.
“We change retirement age to reflect life expectancy instead of cost of living increases. We do it based on inflation. We limit the benefits on the wealthy, and we expand Medicare Advantage plans,” the former United Nations Ambassador and South Carolina governor said Thursday in an interview with Bloomberg Television…”
Life expectancy instead of cost of living increases?
Really?
