My Congresswoman Refuses to Commit to Certifying the 2024 Election Results.
They never learn, do they?
It’s been a few years now since the insurrection on January 6th, 2021.
It’s still vivid in my memory. I work in a nursing home, where we had managed to avoid Covid until days after Thanksgiving 2020. It was a few cases here and there until it finally reached a full on outbreak just days before Christmas, and it turned into one of the most exhausting, defining periods of my working career. After a long day sweating in scrubs and lines from the N95 etched into my face, I decided to call my resident in the assisted living on my break who I had not been able to see since the outbreak started.
“Did you see?” she asked.
“See what?”
“They stormed the Capitol! Somebody was shot. They’ve overrun the building.”
I turned on the TV as soon as I got home about 45 minutes later, and watched as it all unfolded ans came to an end. All the chaos. The destruction. I don’t think there are many of us who have forgotten it, or the aftermath of it all that still rears its ugly head.
And yet somehow, with all of that in mind, my congresswoman, Elise Stefanik, refuses to commit to certifying the results of the 2024 election.
