There have been a lot of new, admittedly far more interesting personalities entering American politics in recent years. Notably on the left of course has been Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who emerged on the scene and caught national attention when she primaried and defeated one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington in 2018, Joseph Crowley, with an entirely grassroots funded campaign. And then of course, on the right, there’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, known Q anon conspiracy theorist and avid supporter of Donald Trump, who if nothing else has served as a bleak reminder of the direction the right-wing is heading in years to come.

Well, interestingly enough, Marjorie Taylor Greene decided to challenge Alexandria Ocasio Cortez to a debate. The topic? The Green New Deal, which AOC has been pushing for since before she was officially sworn into office.

Under the right conditions, she should accept.

To be clear, I understand concerns against the idea. Representative Greene does not approach issues like this from an honest perspective, and I can understand the idea of not wanting to give her more of a platform or legitimacy than she already has.
