Let the Right Have the Culture War.
While conservatives pretended to be upset about Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato head, the left can focus on the issues.
In recent weeks, it’s been difficult to miss the story about Dr. Seuss’ estate coming to the decision to pull six of the books due to concerns about race, and the offensive way certain groups of people were portrayed in them. But perhaps the most difficult aspect to miss of the story was the right wing’s response. House Minority Leader even felt the need to film himself reading Green Eggs & Ham and share it with his Twitter audience in defense of the late author and his books. As absurd as it might be for one of the most prominent figures in the Republican Party to latch on to such a fundamentally unimportant issue, it’s simply par for the course with a party that has nothing else to offer.
Let the Right have the culture war.
Latching on to Dr. Seuss and Mr. Potato head is merely a culmination of decades worth of the right wing having absolutely nothing to offer the American people outside of the culture war, and pretending to be the crusaders for the old, traditional ways.
