Kim Kardashian went from being the wealthy product of the Los Angeles social scene to the to the starlet of American reality TV. Whether it be her infamous fleeting marriage to Chris Humphries or the multiple business ventures that have turned her millions into billions, there’s no denying she’s made a controversial name for herself since she came onto the scene.

Well, the controversy continued when Kardashian shared her “advice” to working women.

Morgan Sung with NBC writes:

“In a Variety profile published this week, the Kardashian-Jenner women discussed making money, their reality TV legacy and their sprawling empire of lifestyle brands. One quote from the feature has social media users bristling, and the advice has turned into a meme.

“I have the best advice for women in business,” Kardashian told Variety. “Get your f — — — ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days.”

She took offense over the public assumption that she’s “famous for being famous” and attributed her family’s success to its work ethic.”

Ah, yes.

It’s all “work ethic” right?

I’m sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that her wealthy mother was already a manager for her husband who was a notable olympic athlete turned public speaker, with all sorts of connections. It had nothing to do with the fact that Kim is also the daughter of a man with deep connections to the business and entertainment community in the city of Los Angeles. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that the family already had millions in the bank account before she emerged on the scene.

“Work ethic.”

How incredibly insulting and out of touch, but really could we expect anything less? That said, it’s worth noting that as infuriating as Kardashian’s comments are, it speaks to a larger mentality.

Rich people are deeply unhappy overall, and in order to mitigate that they have to convince themselves that they earned what they have. In order to justify their wealth and whatever tactics they used or did not use to achieve it, they have to convince themselves one way or another…
