Justice Clarence Thomas Climbed the Ladder Just to Destroy it.

A response to the Supreme Court’s affirmative action ruling.

Well, the Supreme Court has certainly had another busy Friday haven’t they? They allowed a website designer to discriminate against the LGBTQ community, struck down Biden’s student debt relief, and then of course, they ultimately brought an end to affirmative action. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s justice Clarence Thomas in particular who has ensured the affirmative action decision is going to occupy my thoughts and frustrate me for quite some time.

Clarence Thomas is only the second Black supreme court justice. He went to Yale Law School, literally benefitting from affirmative action himself. Without affirmative action playing a massive role in his ability to get into law school, he would not have been in the position he’s currently in, and able to destroy it.

Justice Thomas climbed that ladder just to turn around, and destroy it.

That, right there, is the ultimate encapsulation of today’s conservative. Being someone who could be considered either among the youngest millennials or the oldest of Gen Z, I and all others in my age bracket have certainly taken notice of what older generations got to enjoy that we don’t.
