Joe Manchin Says He Doesn’t Want an “Entitlement” Economy.

Well, the time has come and the vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill is imminent. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen. More than half of the progressive caucus has very publicly and unequivocally vowed not to vote for the bill until the larger reconciliation bill has passed in the Senate, all but guaranteeing the bill would be shot down. Of course, Pelosi refuses to bring bills to a vote that she does not have the votes for. Either Pelosi is underestimating them, or progressives are about to be ambushed with enough GOP votes that it passes without them which seems incredibly unlikely considering they would not want to hand Biden that win. That said, the will of the donors is a powerful thing for these lawmakers, and if enough of them demand it in order to guarantee they get what they want while at the same time killing the reconciliation bill, GOP crossover — while still unlikely —could theoretically happen.
At this point, the only thing that seems certain is the opposition to the reconciliation bill from Senators like West Virginia’s Joe Manchin. When asked about it, Manchin said:
