Joe Manchin has continued to dominate news headlines in the midst of negotiations over the fate of the infrastructure and reconciliation bills, and suffice it to say those of us on the left continue to be less than impressed. If nothing else, Manchin has revealed the true nature of the corruption that runs deep within the Democratic party, and sheds a light on the party’s unwillingness to create the structural change that the voters sent them to Washington to fight for. Of course, Manchin is far from the only conservative democrat and is merely serving as the face of a broader obstructionist movement alongside Kyrsten Sinema, but Manchin is certainly among the most petty. In fact, Manchin has grown so tired of the fact that the public dare challenge him, his policies, and his motives that he is reportedly considering leaving the Democratic party.
