Jeb Bush Might Have Given Ron DeSantis’ Presidential Hopes the Kiss of Death.

At least, we can hope.

Ah, who can forget the 2016 campaign of Jeb Bush.

Jeb!

For me personally, the video of Bush asking for his audience to “please clap” after a line in his speech will go down as one of the most satisfying moments of that entire election season. Up there, of course, with Bernie Sanders beating Hillary Clinton in Michigan.

Well now, after being utterly humiliated during the election that feels as though it took place an eternity ago, Jeb Bush has once again been making headlines. This time, for endorsing none other than Ron DeSantis for President, who has not even announced the launch of his campaign yet.

Caroline Vakil with The Hill writes:

“Former GOP presidential hopeful Jeb Bush in a recent interview threw his support behind Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), arguing it’s time for “a generational change in our politics.”

“I think it is,” Bush, a former Florida governor himself, told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade in a Fox Nation special called “Who is Ron DeSantis?” when asked if it was the right opportunity for DeSantis to run for higher office.

“He’s been a really effective governor. He’s young. I think we’re on the verge of a generational change in our politics. Kind of hope so. I think it’s time for a more forward-leaning, future-oriented conversation, our politics, as well,” Bush said during the special. The comments aired last Wednesday but resurfaced online Monday…”

One can only hope that Jeb Bush — “low energy Jeb” — gave DeSantis’ campaign the kiss of death before it even starts, right?

Jeb Bush is about as standard of a Republican politician as they come, right? He doesn’t even bother to hide it. He represents the status quo of the Republican Party, and this endorsement simply speaks to what so many of us have been noticing for a while now. To put it simply, he’s everything that the base has come to despise.

The donor class is on a mission, and they’re making it clear.

They’re bound and determined to find someone, anyone, who can beat Trump. They know not only that Trump is a liability to the stability they value so much, but that he has proven consistently since his first election that he doesn’t have the ability to win in the general. They want those tax cuts, and they’re going to do everything they can to find the guy who will be able to get it done.

It’s impossible not to find it highly amusing that Jeb Bush thinks he has any sort of sway in this situation, and I love to see them trying.

If you would like to donate and support my writing, it is so appreciated and you can do so through my ko-fi account. I’m saving for nursing school, so it means more than you know!
