J.D. Vance’s Comments About the School Shooting Left Lots to be Desired.

According to him, they’re a “fact of life”.

As we’ve all heard by now, a brand new school year opened with yet another school shooting. This time, it was in Georgia, and at the hands of a fourteen year old boy who opened fire and killed two classmates, two teachers, and injured many more. Not only the boy, but his father are now facing charges, and a community and families are never going to be the same. Yet more lives cut short at the hands of unnecessary and preventable gun violence.

Given how things have gone over the years and the way the discourse takes shape when these events occur, it should come as no surprise that Trump’s Vice Presidential pick J.D. Vance left a lot to be desired with his response.

Simon J. Levien with The New York Times writes:

“…After Mr. Vance delivered remarks on border security, a reporter from CNN, who was first drowned out by booing, asked him about what he would do to prevent school shootings in light of the fatal shootings of two students and two teachers at Apalachee High School in Georgia on Wednesday.

Mr. Vance, former President Donald J. Trump’s running mate, first condemned the shooting in Georgia as “an awful tragedy” that should never have happened…
