It Looks Like Ted Cruz Might Be Running For President Again.

And his chances aren’t any better than they were in 2016.

I admittedly love the horse race aspect of electoral politics, and while 2024 might be a long way off it’s been genuinely amusing watching potential GOP hopeful contenders begin to get ready. With Donald Trump already declaring his candidacy, it’s been clear for a while now that Florida’s Ron DeSantis is almost certainly going to be his top rival.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that others aren’t going to try.

Shane Goldmacher with The New York Times writes:

“Senator Ted Cruz aggressively worked one ballroom, taking selfies and staying for handshakes with donors and activists for so long the linens had already been cleared…

…The first auditions for the role of leading Trump alternative consumed the Venetian hotel over the weekend, onstage and off, as nearly a dozen Republican potential presidential candidates tested their strategies and messages days after the former president declared his 2024 candidacy…”

Yep. Ted Cruz.
