Is Rep. Steve Scalise Really Going to be Speaker?

He might get elected, but I can’t see this going well.

Following the recent ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy led by the efforts of Representative Matt Gaetz and Co., I’ve been curious to see how the Republican Party would approach this issue. Who would run? Who would they elect? How successful could they realistically be given the situation?

Well, none other than Representative Steve Scalise decided to throw his hat into the ring. Not exactly a surprising name considering the dynamics of the Republican Party today, but even following his reportedly likely election, things aren’t exactly off to a great start.

Anthony Adragna, Caitlin Emma, and Jennifer Scholtz with Politico write:

“Steve Scalise won the internal House Republican speakership vote Wednesday — but even some lawmakers aren’t sure what, if anything, can be done to sway GOP colleagues dug in against his candidacy.
