Is Joe Manchin Actually Considering Leaving the Senate?

I hope we’ll be able to say goodbye and good riddance, but I doubt it.

While Nancy Pelosi is certainly up there, there are no Democrats in power that I despise more than Arizona’s Kyrsten Sinema and West Virginia’s Joe Manchin. While at least Joe Manchin has made his intentions clear and told the public who he was from the very beginning, he’s certainly enjoyed flirting with possibilities outside of the Senate in a way that screams enjoyment of attention. He’s even gone so far as to suggest on multiple occasions that he might run for President, and has refused to close the door on that possibility.

But now, there are reports he could be taking a role with West Virginia University.

John L. Dorman with Business Insider writes:

“…However, allies of Manchin told The New York Times of another potential option for the senator: retiring to become the president of his alma mater, West Virginia University. E. Gordon Gee, the 79-year-old academic administrator who first served as the university’s president from 1981 to 1985, is in his second stint leading the institution after returning in 2014.
