As we all could probably have expected, the right wing is getting increasingly loud following their newfound power in the House of Representatives. Of course, the debt limit has been a hot button issue for these lawmakers who have been eagerly awaiting the chance to “cut spending” for the past two years.

Allison Pecorin with ABC News writes:

“…Now that Republicans narrowly control the House, raising the debt limit cannot be accomplished without GOP votes, giving McCarthy increased influence over negotiations, if he can wrangle his conference. But McCarthy captured the gavel in the House only after a protracted speaker election that required him making concessions to the right wing of his party.

Many of those members see a debt limit hike as a powerful bargaining chip in their efforts to slash what they see as out-of-control federal spending. McCarthy has taken to their position…”

“Negotiations”?

Here’s the thing…we need to stop pretending as though there’s anything to negotiate about, and if the media were interested in the truth rather than the comfortable storyline they’ve been given, they would address that…
