In the California Senate Race, the Establishment Democrats Have Chosen Their Candidate.

And no, it’s not Diane Feinstein.

Just weeks ago, Katie Porter ruffled some feathers within the Democratic Party by announcing her intentions to run for Congress. It was apparently a problem, of course, because she had the audacity to run without discussing it with the woman who currently sits in the seat: none other than Senator Diane Feinstein.

It’s certainly worth noting that while her colleagues lament the supposed “disrespect” that Porter showed by not seeking her approval when she hasn’t announced her retirement yet, Feinstein will be in her 90s when this term is over. She’s also been dealing with widespread reports coming from her staff and fellow lawmakers that she is experiencing cognitive decline.

But sure, Katie Porter needs her “permission” to run for that seat.

All that being said, it appears that the more corporate, establishment wing of the Democratic Party is evidently getting prepared for this race following the entry of not just Katie Porter, but Barbara Lee as well. Their answer? Adam Schiff.
